On Monday the athletics department at the University of Saskatchewan announced that, because of the spread of the Covid-19 omicron variant, fans will not be permitted to watch January 14-15 events on campus, in person.

Volleyball matches vs. Brandon at the PAC, and hockey games vs. Regina at Merlis Belsher Place will be played, but will not be open to the public.

Earlier in the day the University of Regina athletics department announced that it will begin the 2022 calendar year without spectators at on-campus events, however hockey’s attendance policy remains in place per Evraz Place guidelines.

Proof of full vaccination and masks will be required. Evraz Place is not a University of Regina facility.

The Huskies men’s hockey team will visit the Cougars on Friday, Jan. 14, then host Regina the following night.

The Huskies women’s hockey team will host the Cougars on Jan. 14, then visit Regina on Jan. 15.

All Huskie athletes must be fully vaccinated to participate in interuniversity competition and are tested regularly.

All Huskies hockey games can be heard on the HuskieFAN app, and HuskieFAN.ca

An update on the status of the games taking place on Jan. 21 and 22 will be provided next week.
