Scott Flory named Huskie coach of the year
The 2021-22 U of S Huskie sports season officially came to an end on Wednesday night with the annual Huskie Salute at TCU Place.
Huskie women’s volleyball captain Emily Koshinski won the Mary Ethel Cartwright Trophy for female athlete of the year. Koshinsky broke the program’s record for most career kills in a season at 279. She played a key role in helping the team to an impressive 14-2 regular season record.
Tailback Adam Machart, who was named a USports football All-Canadian in 2021, was named this season’s Huskie male athlete of the year. Machart finished second in Canada West in rushing, and scored a last minute touchdown in the Uteck Bowl against the Montreal Carabins to help the Huskies advance to the Vanier Cup. Machart is the first football player to win the E. Kent Phillips trophy since Kit Hillis earned the award in 2013.
Scott Flory won the Colb McEwon Trophy as coach of the year. Flory led the Huskie football team to a 5 and 1 regular season record, a Canada West title, and a Vanier Cup appearance.
