Machart ends his football career just days ahead of CFL Draft

Former Huskie running back Adam Machart has decided to retire from football. Machart, who back in January was touted as one of the top 20 prospects by the CFL scouting bureau, made the announcement on Instagram on Thursday night.

The time has come for me to hang the cleats up. This is a crazy moment for me as anyone who knows me or anything about me knows I live and breathe this sport. I’ll forever be grateful for all the teammates, coaches and support staff I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to spend time with.

I will be pulling from the CFL draft (May 3rd) as it would not be right for me to let a team waste a pick when I have no intention of playing.

Thank you to everyone who has cheered for me and supported me throughout my career. It’s been a hell of a ride

Machart finished his fourth season of eligibility for the U of S Huskies in 2021. He scored the game winning touchdown with five seconds remaining in a 14-10 win over the Montreal Carabins to help send Saskatchewan to the Vanier Cup.

In 2019 the Centennial Collegiate graduate was a finalist for the Hec Crighton Trophy as Canada’s outstanding collegiate football player. He set a Huskie program record with 1,334 rushing yards in eight games.

Machart was also a three time CJFL champion with the Saskatoon Hilltops.
