The University of Saskatchewan Huskie men’s hockey teams’ one and only University Cup championship came in 1983. Saskatchewan beat Concordia 6-2 in the title game in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Led by coach Dave King and players such as Dave Adolph, Willie Desjardins and Peter Anholt, the Huskies defeated Brandon 6-2 and Wilfred Laurier 10-1 in the lead up to victory over the Stingers in the final.
Glen Hawker was an assistant coach with the Huskies in 1983, and chatted with HuskieFAN’s Wray Morrison about his memories of that championship season.
