The court sport season is quickly approaching at the University of Saskatchewan. New Huskie men’s basketball coach Jamie Campbell is quickly settling in to the role. Campbell, who was introduced as head coach back on June 29th of 2022, has first hand knowledge of what it takes to win a USports title. Campbell was an assistant coach with Carleton of the OUA, as the Ravens won national championships in 2019 and 2020.

In March of 2022 the Huskies advanced all the way to the USports championship before losing out to the Ravens 85-72 in Edmonton. Many Saskatchewan returnees such as Marquavian Stephens , Alex Dewar and Chan De Ciman are putting that experience to use, with the goal of getting back to the 2022-23 championships in March in Halifax. Chad Jacobsen, who was the lead assistant coach last season, also returns to the program.

The Huskies have a handful of pre-season game before the conference schedule begins on November 4th. The Ron and Jane Graham Shootout is scheduled for October 13, 14, and 15 at the PAC. Memorial University from St. John’s, The University of Northern British Columbia from Prince George and Keyano College from Fort McLeod, Alberta will be competing in the four team, three day event. The Huskies will also travel to Quebec City for more exhibition competition prior to the start of the conference schedule on November 4th.
