Huskie quarterback looks back on setting record and looks ahead to the playoffs

Saskatchewan Huskie quarterback Mason Nyhus became the school’s all-time single season passing leader on Saturday in a 24-1 win over the Calgary Dinos. His 350 yards in passing in the regular season finale led to an eight game total of 2,803 yards in 2022. That’s an average of 350.3 yards per game. Kyle Siemens previously held the Huskie record with a 2,572 yard season in 2017.

Nyhus, who is a strong candidate for the 2022 Hec Crighton Trophy as Canada’s top college football player, is in his fifth and final season with the Huskies. Nyhus, who attended Riffel high school in Regina, is in education studies and set to complete his Bachelor of Education degree this year.

His major focus is a return to the 2022 Vanier Cup after the Huskies lost to Western 27-21 in Quebec City last year. The Manitoba Bisons visit the Huskies in a Hardy Cup semi-final on Saturday, November 5th at 1:00pm at Griffiths Stadium.

HuskieFAN’s Wray Morrison chatted with Nyhus about setting the Huskie passing record, and the road ahead for him and his team as playoff preparation gets underway.
