Huskie women’s basketball team is 2 and 0

The Huskie women’s basketball team raised its 2021-22 Canada West conference championship banner, then continued the celebration with an 83-55 win over the Mount Royal Cougars at the PAC on Saturday night. Saskatchewan dominated from the outset, taking a 27-10 lead after the first quarter. At the half, the home side opened up a 53-26 advantage.

Fourth year guard Carly Ahlstrom led the way with 25 points for Saskatchewan. The Huskies now have a 2 and 0 record, and visit Regina next Friday night.

Saskatchewan’s men’s team suffered a 94-75 loss to Mount Royal and fell to 1 and 1 on the season. The visiting Cougars rode a 24 point second quarter to victory. Keivonte Watts had 34 points for Mount Royal. Fourth year guard Alex Dewar poured in 35 for the Huskies. The Huskies are also in Regina on November 11th.

Volleyball

The Huskie men’s volleyball team defeated Fraser Valley in Abbotsford in three sets on Saturday night. (25-20, 25-23, 25-22) Emmett Graham had 13 kills for the Huskies. The Huskies are now 4 and 2 on the season.

The Fraser Valley Cascades downed the Huskie women’s volleyball team 3 sets to 1. Julia Howell Bourner had 11 kills for the Huskies.

The women’s and men’s volleyball team return to the PAC on the November 18th-19th weekend to face Regina.
