Huskies stalled by T-Birds in semifinal defeat to end season
The University of Saskatchewan Huskies did all they could to force a deciding Game 3 in a semifinal series against the No. 1-ranked UBC Thunderbirds.
But, ultimately, the conference-leading defending champions reigned supreme Sunday, shutting out Saskatchewan 3-0 in at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver, B.C.
“I told the group I’m proud of them. We had a very challenging second half of the season with some injuries that we didn’t expect, and a couple more injuries that built up,” Huskies head coach Steve Kook said after the game.
“The team really never had a chance to come together as a complete group until, really, the final weekend of the regular season.”
