Saskatchewan opens conference schedule in Manitoba

Apr 25, 2023 | 1:34 PM

The 2023 Canada West football schedule was released on Tuesday. The U of S Huskies will host the Calgary Dinos in a non-conference game on Friday, August 25th at 6:00 at Griffiths Stadium. Saskatchewan’s conference schedule starts on the road on Friday, September 1st when the Huskies visit the Manitoba Bisons at IG Field. The kick-off is at 6:00. (Saskatchewan time)

While head coach Scott Flory admits opening the season on the road isn’t ideal, he is excited that 3 of the team’s following 4 September games will be played at Griffiths Stadium. “Those three Friday night games are going to be really good”, said Flory. “Especially that homecoming game against Regina. (September 8) “It’ll be electric.”

The schedule features a unique start time for the Saturday October 21st game. The Huskies host the Calgary Dinos at 4pm. This will give University of Saskatchewan sports fans an opportunity to head directly over to Merlis Belsher Place (next door to Griffiths Stadium) to watch hockey following the football game.

The 2023 campaign is evenly split with two home games and two road games in the first half of the season and then again (two home, two road) in the second half. Flory always has a consistent motto when it comes to the season schedule. “We’ll play any time, anywhere, anyhow.”

The complete 2023 Huskie football schedule is as follows:

Friday August 25th vs Calgary Dinos – 6pm (non-conference)

Friday September 1st @ Manitoba Bisons – 6pm

Friday September 8th vs Regina Rams – 7pm
