The last weekend of September will be busy at the U of S campus.

The Canada West women’s hockey season gets underway for the Huskies. The Manitoba Bisons visit Merlis Belsher Place on Friday night at 7pm and then again on Saturday afternoon at 5pm. Both games can be heard on the free HuskieFAN app. This kicks off a big season for the University of Saskatchewan women’s team as it prepares to host the 2024 USports women’s hockey championships next March.

The men’s basketball team hosts the Ron and Jane Graham Shootout on September 28th, 29th and 30th. The Laurentian Voyageurs, Waterloo Warriors and Fraser Valley Cascades visit Saskatoon for this 4-team pre-season tournament. The Huskies face Waterloo on Thursday evening at 7pm. On Friday night it’s Saskatchewan against Fraser Valley, also at 7pm. The final game of the tournament on Saturday features the Huskies and Laurentian at 3pm. All games are at the PAC.

The football team hosts the undefeated UBC Thunderbirds at 7pm at Griffiths Stadium on Friday night. The T-Birds moved to 4 and 0 last week with a big 54-37 win over the previously unbeaten Alberta Golden Bears. The 3 and 1 Huskies had a big fourth quarter in a 28-12 win over the Dinos at McMahon Stadium last Friday. The game can be heard on Pattison Media’s HuskieFAN app starting at 6:45pm with the Elk Ridge Resort Pre-Game Show. Play-by-play with Wray Morrison and Rich Gabruch, powered by PlayNOW.com, starts at 7pm.

The women’s soccer team is at home for Saturday and Sunday matches at Griffiths Stadium. The Huskies host Lethbridge and Calgary with both games starting at 2pm.

The Huskie cross-country team begins its 2023 season on Saturday by hosting the Dakota Classic. The women’s 8 km race starts at 11:00am, the men’s 8km race starts at 12pm.
