The U of S hockey teams will open the 2024-25 Canada West seasons against their provincial rivals, the Regina Cougars. The Huskie women’s team will visit the provincial capital on Friday October 4th before the Saturday, October 5th home opener against the Cougars at Merlis Belsher Place.

The women’s team will play 5 of the first 6 games at home, hosting Calgary on October 11th and 12th before entertaining the Alberta Pandas on October 18th and 19th. Saskatchewan was 19-7-0-2 last season before losing in the third game of a best-of-three quarter-final to the Calgary Dinos last season.

Returnees earned valuable experience after the Huskies hosted the 2024 U SPORTS women’s championships last March. The Huskies lost to Concordia before defeating St. FX in the consolation women’s semi-final, then fell to UBC in the consolation final.

The second set is January 10th in Regina and on Saturday, January 11th at 7:00 pm as part of the annual U Prairie Challenge.

The Alberta Golden Bear – U of S Huskie men’s hockey rivalry is one of the best in Canadian University Sport. Saskatchewan’s men’s team lost to the Bears in the deciding game of a best-of-three quarter-final series last season. The teams will meet six times in the 2024-25 season. The Bears will host the Dogs on October 18th and 19th and again on November 22nd and 23rd. The Huskies host the U of A on January 24th and 25th at Merlis Belsher Place.

The defending Canada West champion UBC Thunderbirds will host the Huskies on February 7th and 8th in Vancouver in their only meeting of the regular season.
