The Staybridge Suites and Holiday Inn Express, University Dog’s Breakfast is the annual event that kicks off the University of Saskatchewan Huskie football season. The 2025 event is slated for Thursday, May 1st at Prairieland Park. On Wednesday the Huskie Football Foundation held a news conference to announce the Super Bowl champion, Luke Willson, will be the guest speaker.

The breakfast, now 23 years running, is the program’s major fundraiser for player scholarships. “It’s one of the best events in U SPORTS football”, said 5th-year linebacker, Lane Novak. “It’s amazing for our football team. The support we have is unbelievable. That turns right into scholarships for us.” The breakfast also marks the beginning of the team’s annual spring camp.

Willson, who is from LaSalle, Ontario, spent eight seasons in the NFL and was a star tight end for the Seattle Seahawks when the team defeated the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl 48 at Met Life Stadium. Willson, who played in over 100 NFL games with the Seahawks, Detroit and Baltimore, is now an NFL analyst at TSN. “I’m excited”, Wilson said. “It is going to be the first time in Saskatoon. I’ve always heard about the province, as a whole, as a football province. I’m excited to meet everybody.”

TSN’s Glen Suitor will again serve as the emcee at the event. Past speakers at the Dog’s Breakfast include Ron Lancaster, George Reed, Russ Jackson, Sean Payton and Warren Moon. Tickets for the 2025 Dog’s Breakfast are available here.
