The U of S women’s basketball team advanced to the Canada West final with a 63-45 win over the Fraser Valley Cascades in a conference semi final game at the PAC. Saskatchewan’s defense tightened in the second half, holding the Cascades to just 16 points in the final 20 minutes.

The Huskies were strong offensively, putting up 18 points in both the first and second quarters, then finished up with 18 in the final 10 minutes of the game. Logan Reider had 19 points while Maya Flindall had 10 off the bench.

The Huskies will host the UBC Thunderbirds on Saturday, March 8th at the PAC for the 2025 Canada West championship. The T-Birds defeated the Alberta Pandas 80-66 in Saturday’s other conference semi final.

The Huskie men’s volleyball team secured a spot in the Canada West final four with three sets to one victory over the Trinity Western Spartans (25-21, 25-23, 25-22) on Saturday afternoon at the PAC. Second-year middle, Jacob Baird, had 13 kills and 16 points.

Saskatchewan will travel to Manitoba next weekend to take on the top-seeded host Winnipeg Wesmen in a single-elimination semi-final. The two teams split their two-game matchup earlier this season.
