Huskies host UBC in September 5 home opener

Unlike last season. the 2025 Huskie football schedule is evenly balanced. One on the road, one at home…etc. Last season the Huskies played three of their first four games on the road and were 1 and 3 to start the season, before rallying with four straight wins to finish at 5 and 3.

Saskatchewan opens this season in Edmonton against the Alberta Golden Bears on August the 29th. Saskatchewan’s home opener set for Friday, September 5th at 7:00 PM at Griffiths Stadium against the UBC Thunderbirds. The T-Birds will be looking to spoil the celebrations surrounding the USask homecoming game after the Huskies defeated the Thunderbirds in the 2024 Canada West semi-finals.

The Dogs will then take a trip to Winnipeg to face the Manitoba Bisons on Saturday, September 13th. Scott Flory’s team is back home to face the Regina Rams on Friday, September 19th at 7:00 at Griffiths Stadium. It will be the only meeting between the provincial rivals during the regular season. The Rams defeated the Huskies, 19-14, in the 2024 Hardy Cup in Saskatoon.

USask then has back-to-back games against Alberta opponents. After visiting Calgary on Saturday, September 27th the Huskies entertain the Golden Bears in the second and final match up of the season between the two schools on Saturday, October 4th at the U of S campus. Stephenson Bone takes over as head coach of the Bears this season after Chris Morris left the program to become President of the Edmonton Elks.

After an October 17th visit to Vancouver to visit the T-Birds, the Huskies wrap up the regular season on Saturday, October 25th with an afternoon game against the Manitoba Bisons. Long time assistant coach Stan Pierre takes over as U of M head coach after Brian Dobie retired after 29 years as coach of the program.

The Canada West semi-finals are set for Saturday, November 1st. The 88th Hardy Cup is slated for Saturday, November 9th. The Canada West banner winners host the OUA champions in the Mitchell Bowl on November 15th. The 2025 season concludes with the 60th edition of the Vanier Cup on Saturday, November 22nd at Mosaic Stadium in Regina.
