
Chasing another banner
Following four overseas exhibition games to kick off the 2025-26 Canada West hockey season, the Huskie men’s team will be back at Merlis Belsher Place on Friday, September 12th and Saturday, September 13th , hosting the Calgary Dinos in non-conference games that start at 7:00 PM and 5:00 PM. USask will then entertain the NAIT Ooks the following Friday and Saturday (September 19 – 20) before finishing up non-conference play on September 26th and 27th in Cold Lake, Alberta against the Golden Bears.
The defending Canada West men’s hockey champions will raise the 2024-25 conference banner on Friday, October 3rd before hosting the Mount Royal Cougars at 7:00 PM at Merlis Belsher Place. The teams will play the second game of the weekend series on Saturday, October 4th at 4:00 PM. After losing the first game of last season’s Canada West league final, the Huskies rallied to win games two and three against MRU to claim the championship.
Saskatchewan provincial rivals will meet six times this season as part of the U-Prairie Challenge. The Regina Cougars visit Merlis Belsher Place on Friday, October 24th at 7:00 PM with the Huskies making the trek to the provincial capital on October 25th. The teams will meet again on December 5th and 6th as well as January 30th and 31st.
The Huskies will face the Regina Cougars and the Mount Royal Cougars six times during the 2025-26 Canada West regular season. USask will play the Calgary Dinos and the Manitoba Bisons four times, while squaring off against MacEwan, Trintiy Western, UBC and Alberta twice each. The Canada West playoffs begin on February 20, 2026.
