Handling ‘The Herd’ in Winnipeg

Sep 10, 2025 | 3:54 PM

Saturday afternoon’s game in Winnipeg marks the first of two meetings between the Huskies and the Manitoba Bisons this season. While the Bisons have several talented veterans on offense such as quarterback Jackson Tachinski, receiver Vaughn Lloyd and running back Breydon Stubbs, Manitoba has only scored a total of 23 points in its first two games.

The Huskie offense found its stride in the second of half of a 51-14 victory over UBC in the USask homecoming game on September 5th in front of over 9500 fans at the U of S campus. The home team rallied with a 32-point second half. Quarterback Anton Amundrud leads the conference, averaging over 330 yards per game in passing. Fifth-year Huskie, Daniel Wiebe, leads the conference in receiving with 252 yards in two games.

Both the Bisons and USask have formidable defenses as each team has allowed fewer than 20 points per game this season. Manitoba’s Jack Schaffer and Charlie Parks of the Huskies lead the Canada West with three sacks this season.

Saturday’s game will be Manitoba’s Homecoming Game as their first two contests were on the road. The second meeting of the season between Saskatchewan and Manitoba will take place on Saturday, October 25th at Griffiths Stadium.

Huskie head coach Scott Flory Wray Morrison chatted with HuskieFAN’s Wray Morrison on the week three edition of The Coach’s Show.
