The 3 and 1 Huskies visit 2 and 2 Calgary on Saturday
It’s another single-game tiebreaker weekend for the Huskies with a Saturday visit to Calgary’s McMahon Stadium to face the U of C Dinos. USask defeated the Regina Rams 22-20 on September 19th in their only meeting of the season. The provincial rivals both have 3 and 1 records, but the victory gives the Huskies the tiebreaker.
The Dinos sport a 2 and 2 record and with a win on Saturday will have the same record as the Huskies and claim the season series. Calgary is a young football team with several first-year starters, including quarterback David Jordan from Los Angeles.
Huskie head coach Scott Flory was asked for his scouting report on Jordan and the Dinos as a whole. “He’s making some throws”, he said. “He spins the ball pretty good. (The Dinos) are running the ball effectively. They are structured on defense. Calgary is a good football team.”
Saskatchewan running back Ryker Frank has a chance to set a program mark for career touchdowns. The fifth-year Huskie is currently tied with Terry Eisler and current running back coach, Colton Klassen, at 30 in the school record books. “He’s a special young man”, said Flory. “If he can pass his coach, I’m sure Colton will be incredibly proud of him as well.”
