A banner raising and a football take over

The Canada West hockey season starts on Friday, October 3rd as the Huskie hockey teams open the 2025-26 season against the Mount Royal Cougars. The USask women’s team will be in Calgary, while the men’s team hosts MRU at 7:00 PM on Friday and then again at 4:00 PM on Saturday at Merlis Belsher Place.

Prior to Friday’s game, the 2024-25 Canada West men’s hockey banner will be unveiled. The Huskies defeated Mount Royal in the third and deciding game of the conference championship for the 2025 Dr. W.G. Hardy Trophy on March 1st of 2025.

The USask football team hosts the Alberta Golden Bears at 7:00 PM on Saturday night at Griffiths Stadium as the feature event of Football Day in Saskatoon. At 4 and 1 the Huskies are in top spot of the Canada West standings following a 45-22 win over the Calgary Dinos on September 27th. The Bears are 1 and 4 after picking up their first win of the season over the UBC T-Birds last Friday.

Football Day in Saskatoon will start at 9:00 AM with over 1,900 athletes competing in flag football games in the fields near Griffiths Stadium. There will also be Kinsmen Tackle football games, women’s flag football games, and a Saskatoon high school matchup inside Griffiths Stadium prior to the Golden Bear-Huskie contest.

Saturday’s U of A-USask game can be heard on Beach Radio 750 and the free HuskieFAN app. Pre-Game Coverage with Wray Morrison and Adam Morrison starts at 6:45 PM followed by play-by-play at 7:00 PM
