Fight for first continues in Vancouver
Six down and two regular season games to go for the Huskie football team. Saskatchewan (5-1) visits UBC (2-4) on Friday night at Thunderbird Stadium in Vancouver. All Canada West teams enter the stretch drive well rested after having a bye during the Thanksgiving weekend.
USask has the comfort of knowing they have two quarterbacks that can win at the university level. Second year quarterback, Jake Farrell, led the Saskatchewan to a 31-24 win over the Alberta Golden Bears on October 4th. In his first USports start, Farrell had 276 yards in passing and tossed three touchdown passes. Third year Huskie starter, Anton Amundrud, leads the country in passing, averaging 328.2 yards per game.
The Huskies thumped the Thunderbirds 51-24 at the USask homecoming game on September 5th at Griffiths Stadium in front of 10,000 fans. UBC has lost three of its last four games and have allowed a league high 192 points in six games this season. (32 pts/game.)
Huskie head coach Scott Flory chatted with Wray Morrison on this week’s edition of The Coach’s Show.
