Huskies earn weekend split with Dinos

Nov 8, 2025 | 8:21 PM

The Dogs playing a remarkable turnaround game after falling to the same Dinos team 7-2 on Friday.

Bronwyn Boucher opened the scoring at 12:35 of the first period, deflecting a point shot from Virtanen on the powerplay to make it 1-0.

The Huskies then bore down, fending off the Dinos offence through two periods despite conceding three penalty kills in the second.

The defensive stand was highlighted by a spectacular defensive play from fifth-year defencewoman Kendra Zuchotski toward the end of the second. After a scramble in front of the net, the Dinos fired the puck towards the open side of the goal – leading to Zuchotski diving across the crease with arms outstretched to make the save in front of Clara Juca.

Calgary eventually managed to tie it at 4:35 of the third, when former Saskatoon Star Sydney Mercier cut across the top of the slot before delivering a top shelf shot over the shoulder of Juca.

Despite chances on both ends, the buzzer sounded, sending the teams to overtime.

Virtanen ended it all at 3:03 of the three-on-three period, chasing after a lead pass for a quick breakaway before delivering the game-winner with a quick shot under the glove of Maisie Cope.

The Huskies improve to 5-3-2 on the season with the win. The team now heads into a bye, after which they’ll host the Grant MacEwan Griffins at Merlis Belsher Place.
