The 2026 portion of competition begins

On the heels of the holiday break, Huskie teams’ now focus on the 2026 portion of their respective seasons. The USask men’s hockey team visits Manitoba for January 9th and 10th contests, while the women’s and men’s basketball teams visit Alberta.

The Huskie women’s hockey team hosts the Manitoba Bisons on Friday and Saturday night. Saskatchewan is 8-6-2 in the Canada West, east division standings and trails second place Calgary by seven points with two games in hand. The Huskies swept the Bisons in an October 31st-November 1st series earlier this season.

Game times are at 7:00 PM on Friday night and 5:00 PM on Saturday afternoon at Merlis Belsher Place.

The USask volleyball teams entertain UBC. The Huskie women’s team is 8 and 4 this season and has won five its last six matches. Saskatchewan’s men’s team is 7 and 5 and prepares for a strong T-Birds squad that is 9 and 1 entering the new calendar year.

The women’s matches are at 6:00 PM on Friday and 3:00 PM on Saturday at the PAC. The men’s matches are at 7:30 PM (Friday) and 4:30 PM (Saturday).

The Saskatoon Field House will host the Sanderson Classic on the January 9th and 10th weekend. 283 Canada West athletes from five schools and an additional 364 club athletes will be in action. Competition starts at 4:30 PM on Friday and 10:30 AM on Saturday.
