Basketball and men’s hockey are on campus on February 6th -7th

The Huskie women’s basketball team wraps up the home portion of its regular season with home games against the Winnipeg Wesmen on February 6th and 7th at the PAC. USask improved to 18-0 with an 81-69 win over the Cougars in Regina on Tuesday night. Saskatchewan overcame a six-point halftime deficit with a 20-point third quarter and 27 points in the final quarter. Tea DeMong led the way for the Huskies with 22 points.

The USask men’s squad fell to 5-13 on Tuesday, suffering a 79-58 loss to the U of R. The Cougars rallied with 27 second quarter points on their way to the win. Mohamed Madani led the Huskies with 15 points. The loss eliminated the Huskies from playoff contention,

The Wesmen-Huskie women’s basketball games will start at 6:00 PM on Friday (February 6th) and 5:00 PM (February 7th) at the PAC. The men’s Winnipeg-USask games will follow the women’s games. (8:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Friday and Saturday.)

The Huskie men’s hockey team will host its last home series of the regular season against the Calgary Dinos on February 6th and 7th. USask is in contention for a first-place finish in the Canada West, east division and a first-round bye in the playoffs. Saskatchewan has 36 points, in second place with four games remaining. The first place Mount Royal Cougars have just two games left with 38 points. The third place Dinos are just a point back of the Huskies with four games remaining on its schedule.

The first game of the Dino-Huskie series is on Friday, February 6th at 7:00 PM at Merlis Belsher Place. The second game is the next night at 5:00 PM.
