An undefeated regular season. It only happened one other time in University of Saskatchewan women’s basketball history. However, on Saturday night the 2025-26 edition of the USask Huskies put the finishing touches on perfect 20 and 0 campaign with an 84-54 win over the Winnipeg Wesmen at the PAC.

The Huskies jumped out to a 17-8 first quarter lead, thanks in part to six first quarter points from Maya Flindall and five from veteran Gage Grassick. Saskatchewan jumped out to an early 8-0 lead, then stormed out to a 17-point advantage in the second quarter. The Wesmen, which entered the game with a 4-15 record, pulled to within 10 at the break.

Winnipeg attempted to push back more in the third quarter, cutting Saskatchewan’s lead down to seven, but as the period rolled on, the Huskies proved to be too much. Flindall and Andrea Dodig both hit 3-pointers as the Huskies rallied for a 26-point period. The home side then outscored the Wesmen 26-14 in the final frame with 15 of those points coming from the bench.

Flindall finished with a game high 17 points, nine from three-3 pointers. Ella Murphy Wiebe had 14 for the Huskies while Logan Reider had 12 off the bench. Jennifer Kallon had a 16-point night for Winnipeg.

The only other University of Saskatchewan women’s basketball team to have an undefeated regular season record was the 1971-72 squad which finished 6-0 before losing in the WCIAA championship to UBC.

The Huskies will now either host the Mount Royal Cougars or the Fraser Valley Cascades in a Canada West quarterfinal on Saturday night at 5:00 PM at the PAC. The Cougars and Cascades will both travel to Saskatoon to meet in a play-in game on Friday night at 5:00 PM at the U of S campus.

The Huskie men’s basketball team played its last game of the 2025-26 season, suffering a 80-76 loss to the Wesmen. Easton Thimm had 20 points for Saskatchewan while Mohamed Mahadhi had 15. Saskatchewan finished the season with a 5-15 record.
