Huskies and MRU Cougars meet in divisional showdown
One win in Calgary, against the Mount Royal Cougars, and the Huskies will earn a first-place finish in the Canada West. east division standings. Saskatchewan sits with 40 points while the Cougars have 38 entering the final two game set of the regular season between the two teams at the Flames Community Arena in Calgary on the February 13-14 weekend. (A first-place finish means a first-round bye in the Canada West playoffs.)
Offensively, USask has been led by fifth-year forward Chantz Petruic who has 34 points in 24 games this season. First-year Huskie Connor Roulette leads the Canada West conference in rookie scoring with 33 points in 26 games. Head coach Brandin Cote has one of the deeper teams in the conference as well. The combination of Roulette, Chase Bertholet and Cade Hayes has been particularly impressive this season.
The Cougars, who faced the Huskies in the 2026 Canada West final last March, won two of four meetings with Saskatchewan in the regular season. MRU is led by veterans Connor Bouchard and Josh Tarzwell who both had more than 30 points each in the regular season.
