The Saskatchewan Huskies are back-to-back U SPORTS champions for the first time in program history. The Huskies women’s basketball team claimed its second straight national title and fourth overall with a 77-68 win over the University of New Brunswick Reds on Sunday in Quebec City.

Logan Reider scored a game-high 19 points off the bench, Maya Flindall added 17 and Gage Grassick stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals, while Ella Murphy Wiebe recorded her second double-double in as many nights with 13 points and ten boards as the Huskies held off a tenacious UNB squad to maintain their grip on the Bronze Baby for another year.

Grassick was named a tournament all-star for the third straight year and Murphy Wiebe, who was the most consistent Huskie throughout the week, was named Final 8 MVP — a fitting swan song for two of the team’s five graduating players.
