The Huskie women’s team finished the 2021-22 season with a 14 and 2 east division record, and claimed the Canada West title with a 68-59 win over the Winnipeg Wesmen. It was Saskatchewan’s third consecutive conference title, and fifth in the previous six seasons. Queen’s University defeated Saskatchewan 62-55 in their first game of the USports Final 8 to knock the Huskies out of contention for the 2022 championship.
Saskatchewan’s men’s team earned the 8th seed at the USports Final 8, after an 11 and 5 regular season finish. The Huskies defeated Regina 97-93 in the bronze medal game of the Canada West championships at the University of Alberta. Victories over Brock and Queen’s at the national championship in Edmonton, propelled the Huskies to the 2022 championship game where they lost to Carleton 85-72.
The shortened 2021-22 season saw the Huskie teams play 16 regular season games in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. All 17 Canada West schools are back in one division, and will play 20 regular season contests.
