Brandin Cote has been promoted to head coach of the University of Saskatchewan Huskie men’s hockey program. Cote was an associate coach for the Huskies under Mike Babcock for the 2021-22 season.

Cote, who is from Swift Current, served as an assistant coach with the Swift Current Broncos and Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League before joining the University of Saskatchewan.

As a player Cote spent five seasons with the Spokane Chiefs from 1996-97 to 2002-02. Babcock was the head coach of the Chiefs for a portion of the time that Cote played in Spokane. Cote also spent four seasons in Norfolk in the American Hockey League, and also played overseas in Germany, England and Italy.

Cote chatted with Wray Morrison about the announcement and how the team is preparing for the 2022-23 season.

Last season the Huskies finished with a 13 and 7 regular season record and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Calgary Dinos. The 2022-23 Huskie men’s hockey season starts on Friday September 30th, when the Huskies host the Trinity Western Spartans.
