Soccer teams visit BC for playoff matches

Oct 28, 2022 | 3:54 PM

The Huskie men’s soccer team visits UBC in a Canada West quarter-final on Saturday night at 8pm.

Connected, organized and not being fearful. Some of the traits that the 3-7-4 Huskies will require when facing a 9-3-3 Thunderbird team according to coach Bryce Chapman. “If we keep this as tight as we can, for as long as we can, it sets us up for an opportunity”, said Chapman.

Huskie 3rd year defender Kevin Garic agrees. “Staying compact and defending as a unit”, will be key. “UBC usually wins its games in the first 25 minutes.” “Taking our time, and relaxing”, will be crucial according to the Saskatchewan veteran.

The Huskie women’s soccer team is also in BC, taking on Trinity Western in a Canada West quarter-final Langley. This marks Saskatchewan’s 10th straight trip to the Canada West playoffs. The playoff match starts at 8:30pm.

On Saturday, the Huskie cross country team will be in Abbotsford, BC for the 2022 Canada West championships. Last year Saskatchewan’s men’s team brought home the conference banner, while the women’s team finished second. The men’s race is at 1pm, the women’s race is scheduled or 2pm.

The Huskie volleyball teams host MacEwan Friday and Saturday night at the PAC. Men’s matches are at 6pm on Friday and 3pm on Saturday. Saskatchewan’s matches against the Griffin women’s team are at 8pm on Friday and 5pm on Saturday.
