
2024 Huskie men’s and women’s schedules released
The 2024 Canada West soccer schedules were released on Monday afternoon. The Huskie women’s team, which finished with a 10-3 and 1 Prairie Division record last season, opens the year at home on Saturday, September 7th against the MacEwan Griffins at 2:00 pm at Griffiths Stadium. On Sunday, September 8th the Alberta Pandas visit the U of S campus.
Saskatchewan is coming off a 2023 Canada West bronze medal finish after defeating Victoria in penalty kicks. The defending conference champion Trinity Western Spartans downed the UBC Thunderbirds in penalty kicks to claim the 2023 Canada West title, while the T-Birds blanked the Spartans 1-0 for the U SPORTS crown in Kingston, Ontario.
The U of S women’s team hosts Winnipeg and Manitoba on September 14th and 15th respectively before playing the first road game of the season on September 21st in Lethbridge against the Pronghorns. The Huskies face their provincial rivals, the Regina Cougars, on Friday, October 11th at 7:00 pm, then visit the U of R campus the following night as part of the U-Prairie Challenge.
After missing the playoffs last season, the Huskie men’s soccer squad sets its sights on a higher finish in the Prairie Division in 2024. Saskatchewan will open the season on August 24th in Calgary against the Dinos before facing Mount Royal on the 25th at MRU.
