
Huskies look to extend win streak against 4-12-1-1 Bisons
A 5-game home-stand continues for the 14 and 4 Huskie men’s hockey team on the January 17th-18th weekend. The Manitoba Bisons visit the Huskies on Friday night at 7:00 PM and Saturday afternoon at 5:00 PM at Merlis Belsher Place. The Huskies enter the weekend four points back of the east division leading Alberta Golden Bears. Saskatchewan has two games in hand.
The U of S is currently on a 5-game win streak following January 10th and 11th wins over the Regina Cougars. Newcomer Chase Bertholet, who was a 70-point player with the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs last season, contributed in both games, scoring his first goal with the team on Friday night before chipping in with an assist on Saturday.
Back-up goaltender Ethan Chadwick has been a valuable addition to the Huskies along with veterans Jordan Kooy and Roddy Ross. In 8 games this season, Kooy 7 wins and a 2.13 Goals Against Average. Ross has 6 wins in 9 games with a 2.19 GAA.
The Huskies are 2 and 0 against the Bisons this season. On November 1st, Saskatchewan pulled out a 4-3 win over Manitoba in Winnipeg. Kooy made 16 saves the following night in a 5-0 shut-out victory.
