Dogs take on the Herd in Winnipeg

The defending Canada West men’s hockey champions begin a lengthy stretch of road games on the October 15th-16th weekend with a trip to Winnipeg. Saskatchewan, which plays five of its next six on the road, puts a 2 and 0 record on the line against the Manitoba Bisons in October 16th and 17th games at the Wayne Fleming Arena.

USask opened the regular season with an October 9th 4-3 win over the Calgary Dinos, overcoming a 3-1 third period deficit for the victory. The Dogs followed that up with a 2-0 shutout over the U of C the next night. Bryan Thomson made 20 saves for the shutout.

Newcomers such as Logan McCutcheon on defense and forwards like Tyler Parr and Jaydon Dureau have fit in nicely with their new team according to head coach Brandin Cote. Dureau scored his first Canada West goal on Saturday night.

Saskatchewan’s next home game is Saturday, October 24th when the Regina Cougars visit Merlis Belsher Place.
