Parks and Warrack selected in CFL draft
The Huskie football team began the Dog’s Breakfast weekend celebrations early. A pair of USask players were chosen by CFL teams in Tuesday’s 2026 draft.
Defensive lineman Charlie Parks was selected by the Ottawa RedBlacks in the fourth round. The 2025 All-Canadian led the Canada West conference with five sacks last season. “Charlie is explosive and physical with great instincts”, said Huskie head coach Scott Flory. “He’s a determined player, with a great work ethic, and a second to none love for the game.” The Regina product ran the fastest 40-yard dash among defensive lineman with a time of 4.87 at the recent CFL combine in Edmonton.
Veteran tackle Jack Warrack was taken in the eighth round by the Calgary Stampeders. Warrack, who hails from Strathmore, Alberta, is entering his fifth season with the Huskies. “Jack is smooth, athletic and an incredibly smart football player”, said Flory. Warrack was named the 2022 Canada West rookie of the year and has played on both sides of the offensive line in his time with the program. “He’s got great feet and instincts, as well as the athletic ability to recover from being in awkward positions”, added Flory.
Thursday the team will host the annual Dog’s Breakfast at Prairieland Park. The event, which has now been running for a quarter of a century, raises scholarship funds for the program. Toronto Argo GM and Canadian Football Hall of Famer, Pinball Clemons, is this year’s keynote guest. The event also serves as the kick-off to the Huskies’ 2026 spring camp. “It is the busiest, most exciting, chaotic, and rewarding time of the year for us”, said Flory. “There are so many moving parts that all come together for an amazing hour and half show, all to raise money for our amazing student-athletes.”
