Opportunistic Golden Bears snap Huskies win streak
The Huskies men’s hockey team is still searching for a way past their archrivals. Saskatchewan fell to 0-3 against the Alberta Golden Bears this season with a 4-2 loss in Edmonton on Friday that snapped their five-game winning streak.
Trevor Wong and Chantz Petruic each scored for the Dogs, who have yet to hold a lead against Alberta this season. The Golden Bears were paced by a hat trick from Connor McClennon, while Josh Prokop’s goal midway through the third period eventually stood as the winner.
Despite playing better than they did in their first two meetings with Alberta last month, the Huskies failed to capitalize on a number of opportunities to take control of the game in the first two periods.
“I liked a lot of our game, I liked our competitiveness. We’re right there, we’ve just got to find a way to get over the hump against these guys,” head coach Brandin Cote said.
