It’s the annual Play for a Cure night as the Huskie women’s hockey team hosts the Grant MacEwan Griffins on Friday night in the first game of a two-game series at Merlis Belsher Place. Following back-to-back victories over Trinity Western on January 12th and 13th, Saskatchewan sits two points behind 3rd-place Mount Royal in the Canada West standings. The MacEwan Griffins have won just 3 times in 18 regular season contests and come to Saskatoon hoping to end a 6-game losing skid.

Following Friday night’s game, Huskie player jerseys will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the Matt Cook Foundation, designed to assist young adults who have been diagnosed with cancer. Friday night’s game starts at 7:00 pm. The puck drops at 5:00 for the second and final game of the series on January 20th at Merlis Belsher Place.

Huskie coach Steve Kook joined HuskieFAN’s Wray Morrison for this week’s edition of The Coach’s Show.
