It’s playoff time for the Huskie men’s volleyball team and both of Saskatchewan’s basketball programs as teams travel to Winnipeg, Vancouver and Abbotsford, BC for the fourth weekend of February.

The top seeded Huskie women’s basketball team takes an impressive 19-1 record into the Canada West championships, which start Wednesday at the University of Fraser Valley. The Huskies will face either UBC Okanagan or Trinity Western in Thursday’s last quarterfinal of the day which begins at 10 pm, Saskatchewan time. Guard Gage Grassick, a Prince Albert, Sask. product, was named to the conference first all-star team after putting up 13 points per game in the regular season. The Huskies led all teams with three all-star selections, including second team all-star Tea DeMong and third team all-star Carly Ahlstrom. The U of S is not only the top seed in the conference, but ranked second in the country.

U of S men’s basketball coach, Jamie Campbell, takes his team to Winnipeg for the Canada West championships. The Huskies finished the regular season with an 11-9 record. Saskatchewan faces Brandon in a play-in game, scheduled for Wednesday at 3 pm. (Saskatchewan time) The Bobcats had a 12 and 8 regular season and defeated the Huskies twice in the regular season. The winner advances to Thursday’s quarterfinals.

The Huskie men’s volleyball team visits UBC in a best of three Canada West quarterfinal in Vancouver. Matches are set for Friday, February 23rd at 10 pm, Saturday February 24th at 9 pm and, if necessary, Sunday February 25th at 7 pm. (Saskatchewan time) The U of S finished the regular season at 16-8, tied for 3rd in Canada West. Saskatchewan split its two matches with the T-Birds this season.
