The Huskies are banking on solid special teams and discipline for success in Calgary this weekend as the 2 and 0 Saskatchewan visits the 2 and 0 Calgary Dinos for October 11th and 12th contests at Father David Bauer Arena. “I think we have some confidence against them, going in”, Huskie head coach Brandin Cote said. “I really believe we’ve taken a step. They’ve (Dinos) got a really strong group with good goaltending. They are big and heavy. It’s going to be a tight couple of games here.”

Dominant victories over Regina to kick off the Canada West hockey season helped first-year Huskies in their USports debuts. Trevor Wong, a top 10 scorer in the Western Hockey League last season, played valuable minutes and had a goal and an assist in 7-1 and 6-2 victories over Regina on October 4th and 5th. “Trevor is going to be able to find pockets where he can take advantage of teams”, Cote said. “That’s just going to get more consistent.”

Defenseman Logan Bairos had a hat trick in the 6-2 victory, including one goal on the man advantage. “Logan, we know, has some offensive ability”, said Cote. “He found spots in the o-zone made it count.” Cote says fans will also be impressed with forward Ethan Regnier, who played senior hockey last season. “He’s a guy that’s going to fly under the radar until people notice him. I can put him in any situation. Centre, wing, penalty kill, power play…he’s got experience and skill.”

The Dinos are undefeated thanks to a 4-3 shootout win over Calgary on October 4th and a 5-2 victory on October 5th in Vancouver.
