Bisons deal Huskies first loss of season
Dawson Pasternak’s goal with less than four minutes remaining made the difference as the Manitoba Bisons handed the Huskies men’s hockey team its first loss of the campaign on Saturday afternoon.
The Dogs let a third period lead slip away as they settled for a split of their weekend set in Winnipeg.
The two teams faced a quick turnaround for their second meeting in as many days, hitting the ice at Wayne Fleming Arena just over 16 hours after the Dogs blanked the Bisons 4-0 in the series opener, and the result was a game with plenty of whistles and very little flow. The Huskies still outshot the Herd 24-10 over the first two periods but could only muster a handful of quality scoring chances and the game remained scoreless until the third.
The visitors finally broke through 22 seconds into the final frame as Raphael Pelletier batted a rebound past Manitoba goaltender Matthew Kieper for his second goal of the season.
