Huskies women’s team down Pronghorns at PAC

The Huskie women’s basketball team is riding a twelve-game win streak, following an 84-47 win over the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Saturday night at the U of S campus. Ella Murphy-Wiebe led all scorers with 19 points and 11 rebounds and went 8 for 10 from the field.

Gage Grassick poured in 18, while veteran Andrea Dodig had 10 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 steals.

Courtney McKee led the way for the Pronghorns with 15 points. Lethbridge only trailed 15-12 after the first quarter and 46-33 at the half. However, the Huskies took control as the game went on, turning 28 turnovers into 28 points.

Saskatchewan outscored Lethbridge 48-20 in the paint, and also turned 16 rebounds into 22 points.

The 12 and 2 Huskies visit the MacEwan Griffins on the January 31st-February 1st weekend, while the Pronghorns, now 6 and 8, host the Victoria Vikes.

After allowing Saskatchewan to post their first win of the season on Friday, the Lethbridge Pronghorns regrouped for a 72-52 win over the U of S Huske men’s team at the PAC on Saturday night.

Lethbridge cruised out to a 30-10 first quarter lead. Adam Dalil, who came off the Pronghorn bench, led both sides with 17 points and 5 rebounds.

Jack-Henry Fox-Grey finished with a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds), while Bryce Solis had three 3-pointers and completed his night with 11 points. Lethbridge had 35 points from their bench and won the rebounding battle 48-30, including 15 offensive boards.

Emmanuel Bonsu and Easton Thimm led the way for the Huskies scoring 12 points each.

Lethbridge is 10 and 4, in fourth place in the Canada West Prairie Division. The Pronghorns host the Victoria Vikes on the January 31st-February 1st weekend. The Huskie men’s team, now 1 and 13, visits the MacEwan Griffins.
