Huskies dominate Bisons for third straight win
The Huskies men’s hockey team remains perfect to start the season thanks to a decisive 4-0 win over the Manitoba Bisons on Friday night in Winnipeg.
Chase Bertholet and Jayden Dureau notched two points apiece and Nolan Maier made 16 saves to record his first regular season shutout in a Huskies uniform as Saskatchewan blanked its opponent for a second straight game.
After weathering a couple of strong shifts by the Bisons to start the contest, the Dogs took control and never relinquished it. A strong performance by Manitoba goaltender Braden Holt kept the Huskies from building a big early lead but the visitors eventually broke through at 13:13 of the opening period as Tyler Parr tipped a Rhett Rhinehart shot past Holt on the power play for his first U SPORTS goal.
The Huskies added to their lead in the second with an even strength marker by Bertholet and a 5-on-3 power play goal by Liam Keeler. Saskatchewan outshot Manitoba 33-9 through 40 minutes of play.
