Huskies host Bears in last home game of the season
The Huskie football team plays its final home game of the regular season on Friday night. With a 5 and 1 record, the Huskies can put a lock on a first-place finish with a win over 1 and 5 Golden Bears, combined with a UBC loss to Regina. Saskatchewan defeated Alberta 65-12 in week three of the season.
Despite missing October and November games last season, fifth year quarterback Anton Amundrud is 123 yards away from breaking the school record for career passing. Brent Schneider (1992-96) had a career total of 8.294 yards, while Amundrud sits at 8,172 entering the second last weekend of the regular season.
Saskatchewan’s offence generated more than 600 yards in a 39–20 win over the Manitoba Bisons at Griffiths Stadium on October 16. Huskies head coach Scott Flory liked the team’s ball distribution, with eight receivers making catches.
The Huskies wrap up the regular season in Vancouver, against the UBC Thunderbirds on October 30th with the Canada West semi-finals set for Saturday, November 7th.
